Not such a great day today,
and struggled to think of a subject for today's photo of the day as a result.
Hunting through the house I found this thylacine in repose,
a lovely gift from a good friend.
I have an elusive but wonderful connection to thylacine,
and they are part of my earthsong.

Oh, I love that! It's so adorably cute and tiny.

Thylacines have a special place in my heart...I often think they have something to tell me, totemically, but I've never been able to get in touch with one.

I suppose that's a bit metaphorical. LOL

That makes perfect sense for their personality, really. :) I keep thinking, for some reason, that I'd have a better shot getting in touch with one if I'd ever been in close quarters with one of the Thylacine specimens in museums around the world. However, I haven't been lucky enough to get to do that yet.

I know of several other animal energies that didn't speak to me until I'd been in close quarters with their remains.

*offers hugs* Sorry to hear the day hasn't gone so well. I do hope things improve soon.

I love your figurine--cute and kind of... restful, maybe.

I definitely think you're right. Those of us without Summer SAD find this time of year challenge enough, thanks to heat-induced sleep deprivation. I certainly don't envy you the extra challenges.

I'm glad to hear that you are still able to appreciate the bright moments, though. :D

Yay!

I love thylacines too. When I designed an anthropomorphic setting, I made them the most powerful race in terms of magic. Also the lions are basically doormats.

>>Yeah, I love your anthropomorphic thylacines.<<

*squee* That makes me so happy! I should write more about them one of these days.

>> They're wonderful animals in general. <<

Agreed. Did you ever see the rendition in Janet Kagan's Mirabile stories? There was a plot spanning several of them that began with the Kangaroo Rex, and people eventually discovered that the end result was going to be a Tasmanian wolf.

>> It drives me nuts that we killed them all. :/ <<

Me too. Well, presumably killed them all. Thylacines are on the list of cryptids that people still occasionally report seeing. *chuckle* My favorite there was a story in an anthology of lycanthropy fiction, in which the thylacines were hiding by shifting into the shape of other animals. Because in cryptozoology, there's a theory that people don't know there are still thylacines because they get mistaken for kangaroos.

That sort of thing is why I gave my thylacines crypsis powers.
