I really love storms.
I mean, really. I love the clouds,
the way they shred and are filled with tumult.
I love feeling like I'm standing underwater, which is also a true thing.
And I love the smell of petrichor as rain falls on hot, Perth land.

I've increased the contrast in some of the cloud photos, since I love textures and colours and moodiness. But there's a photo of our street which has accurate contrast and you can see the clouds were still pretty serious!

(this is the streetscape with no increased contrast. The storm rolling in from the north was small, but awesome)

I really do feel underwater, under clouds like this.

A wild Glen appeared!

Storms are good, good healing things.

As a water bird, I need the rain. I need to feel underwater sometimes.

Oh, haha, no we don't. I live in the desert. I'm lucky if there's rain three times a year.

It's not the best place for someone like me to be...

I adore storms and storm spirits. I greet the ones native to here when they visit. Thanks for sharing pictures of your native storms.

We're just a bit above average than the rest of the country in terms of storm frequency. Most times they are quick but intense displays of lightning. Sometimes the storms sit on us for a while and I *love* when they stay three to eight hours, although that does mean flooding in some areas.

Very rarely we get tornadoes but thankfully never above F1. I still freak the eff out because tornadoes terrify me and I can literally feel when storms might birth tornadoes. And then there are the storm-children that spawn from tropical storms and hurricanes. As long as I'm indoors, I'm crazy enough to think it is so cool. And I kinda have a sick fascination with storm damage which is probably an unhealthy thing, lol.

Lovely. My mother once painted the ceiling of a room to look much like the "underwater" photo; it's remarkable how strongly the image brought back my memories of that particular skill of hers.

You know, I never thought of being 'underwater' while out underneath storm clouds but...it's literal and beautifully poetic too!

And I particularly love pic #3, beautiful!

Gorgeous photos! We don't get much weather here and I get homesick for the clouds of England and Germany. :)

The area in Germany where I was at was pretty much always gray. LOL I loved the weather because it was never too extreme. I now live in NV where winters are mild, but summers are terribly hot.

Er...I mean, the image above that one, not the cloud directly above his head.

Oh! You know what it reminds me of? When you take a really black ink and then spill water on it, and it splits and shows whether it's really a blue or purple or brown base. :) I find the one above that a little scary; it looks like the underside of surf, and the only time I've seen that was when I was pushed to the bottom by a wave and held there for much longer than I would have liked.

Funny, what clouds make us think of.
