I've been having a lot of fun doing these requests, the next one on the list of offcuts is African painted dog (Perth Zoo has a whole bunch of these, happily breeding so much that some have had to be put on contraception. They are gorgeous).

BUT, I actually got my illustrator's board in and will be getting back to the final two pictures of the deck as of Monday. So I'm taking a break and Painted Dog shall have to wait. This will be the last one of these for a while. :)

Ohhh man I love your artwork, I would have loved to have done a trade but Boar sold about 3 hours ago (before I'd checked my eljay comments). I'm sorry!

I didn't think I'd have so much fun drawing boar though, and so this definitely won't be the last you see of me + boar. :)

That is amazing! What do you do to get familiar with the animal you wish to paint? You are so amazing at capturing the essence of species and I have quite enjoyed seeing you go through the list you asked us to create.
You are so my favorite artist and so forth with the fangirl gushing.

I'm not sure how I do it these days, it just seems to happen. Like a focusing of my awareness, opening myself up to the animal, and then just letting it happen. About 3 years I had to meditate for ages; sometimes actually act like the animal itself, sometimes do more research, before I really got a sense or felt like the animal energy itself was around to help out.

But now it's... almost like a default second awareness. I suppose after about 200+ of these totem pictures now, it's something I really just have as a part of me. I'm not sure what I've gotten myself into; because I'm not sure I can ever stop or shut down that awareness now that I've started.

Not that I mind. :)
