[Art] Caracal and Serval as Totems

These two lovely desert cats.
These were two were some of my 'gateway totems,' heh,
I used to illustrate them in pastels a lot as a child.
Now they've made their mark in the 'as totems' series.

I am in *love* with Serval. The subtle gradiation on the fur is amazing and looks very soft. I love the markings and the look in Serval's eye. :D

Also the shiny energy swirlies on Caracal... they are so interesting.

On a random note, my brain is obsessing that the caracal has no whiskers. It's not a bad thing, or a critique, it's just that I noticed!

Yeah, actually, a lot of animals don't get whiskers, unless they're very obvious on the animal. It's an art technique that I was taught a while ago, which is that if - in most photographs, or in most instances of viewing an animal - the whiskers aren't *immediately* viewable, then they're not always necessary in an artistic rendering. :)

Yay servals! Serval is still around as of today, though Caracal has found a home. :)

I get the impression of desert sand blowing by Caracal, and the energy lines flowing in similar pattern, making him/her truly a part of his habitat. Love this.
