[Art] Gray Wolf and Rainbow River Otter as Totem

OMG. Those are beautiful. I have seen grey wolves up close in person (my folks took us to Wolf Haven a lot as kids), and same with river otters... and you have captured the expressions and spirits of both amazingly.

They are beautiful, majestic creatures. Wolf Haven had some great events, and you could actually get very close to the animals, which was really cool. :)

The otter colours were actually a request, but I find that people who request colours for totem animals (even though they understand the totem animal may say no) are often requesting them for totem animals who are like 'yes that's fine!' So that rainbow/black combination was a ton of fun. :D

Loving, loving, loving Otter! So much rainbow-y goodness. Such a "hi, you're neat, wanna play?" facial expression.

Also, the swirlies remind me of a mountain river's chaotic current, which is the only place I've ever seen an otter in the flesh.

I love that you've seen an otter in the flesh. I mean, I've seen them - but only at the zoo.

The colours on both of these are super. You've really captured the expressions of both animals, and I love the subtleties of the wolf in particular. Both "gaze back" at the viewer, though, even online. Remarkable! (And now I should do something besides sitting and staring at your art, but it's difficult to tear oneself away.) :D

Oh, thank you so much. I like the colouring in both. I'm using a technique a lot more which involves using colours other than the 'typical' colours in fur, so the wolf has green and violet, and the otter has violet. It adds more depth, I think.

I couldn't be more excited about Wolf, and I can't wait to hold it in my hands. <3 This will have a very, very special place in my home. The gaze, the colors, the energy--it's all so beautiful.

These both turned out lovely! The otter is so vibrant. And the wolf, I'm biased though, really captured my heart: so intense and fluffy! The softer tones (as compared to your other grey wolf totem art) are much more appealing to me and the ears in particular are absolutely spot-on realistic. Beautiful work!
