Well, I wasn't actually going to start inking until tomorrow,
but I found a few afternoon hours of unexpected energy
(I do most of my work early morning or late at night and aestivate in the afternoon. ;))
and so I got started.
There's always a bit of hand-staining,
but actually, picking out the lines is one of my favourite parts of the process.

These are gorgeous.
When ever I work in physical media I end up covered in what ever I'm using. Hands, arms, face, clothes and usually what ever I'm sitting on. These days it often ends up on pets too as they have to come and see and then be sooky and want many pats etc.

I don't tend to end up too covered (working with pastels has taught me some good techniques, like keeping a wet teatowel around me to constantly clean my fingertips and hands), but my left hand always ends up covered.

Can I just say... this has to be the best wolf you've ever done. Some of your wolves in the past have looked very angular or static or somewhat stiff, but this one has serious life and fluffiness and potential-for-motion and warmth. ♥ (Also those ears omg.)

And, otter. OTTER. Love.

Heh. I'm happy with the wolf. Actually, it sort of syncs in with a new way I've been wanting to illustrate certain animals. Going to practice it on silver / melanistic red fox next. Well, maybe next.

Ahahaa, the smudgy hands. Yup.

All of the stages of your art are my favorite (just, whichever I am looking at at the time) but I really adore the strong bold lines of this particular stage.

... but I know I'll be squeeing in delight once the shading and spirals are inked in, too.

:D I like this part too. I love the sketch stage, but this part is like... the 'committing' to the inking which is so much more precise and there's less room for error. No erasing lines from now on! In the sketch stage, anything can change, in the inking stage it's like... yeah I really love it. It's like saying 'this is it. This is what you'll be.'

You know how much I like the black and white stages of your artwork, so it's always a thrill to glimpse it. I really like how these are taking shape. :)

I've always loved seeing the side of my hand covered in graphite/other misc art materials. Make me feel so productive :D
