Photo of the day. Paving.

It took me long enough to get off my ass and take the photos.
And then it took a surprising amount of time to find one of the pre-existing paving.
So you know.
But here you go,
it's finally all sorted.
Now we just have to work on the rest of the garden.

That looks very sharp! The block pattern you picked really works with your house and your yard, too. (Er, I feel like I should add a disclaimer for taste -- I tend to like clean, strong architectural forms. They strike me as organic, somehow. I find your house and yard very pleasing because it's tidy, and in proportion, and not excessive in any way. It's a little hard to explain. Hopefully my rambling made sense, though.)

I like the block pattern, it wasn't originally what we were going to go with, but I changed my mind and I'm happy. It will be so lovely once it's finished, the long journey that that is going to be.

Nah, the sand's completely the wrong colour for a beach. Should be an almost white pale, pale tan/yellow for a proper beach. Also much finer than the grey stuff in those pictures. =)

Heh, but SO true. It's nothing like a beach at all! It needs to be pearly white and powdery soft and wonderfully smooth under the feet.

I should try and find a picture of my old garden showing the white sand beach in front of the pond. Always meant to pave it and lay a pebble mosaic, but the sand was so nice the motivation never really kicked in.

'round here we call it a beach if we can scale down the boulders to the water without losing too many people.

We're very spoiled for beaches here; which is lovely. Though I like rugged, unforgiving, moody beaches too.

I was slightly exaggerating, we do have some sandy beaches, though they are often course. I like the moody beaches as well :) and we have lots of those. Peggy's Cove is, in spite of being a tourist trap, all that it is claimed to be as well.

Eeee, it looks AMAZING. It's even more amazing that is stays cool in such hot weather. Limestone is just all around a great sedimentary rock. :D

Well, the garden won't be finished for about another two-ish years I expect (with the finance side of things, it took two and a half years to get the paving); so you might be waiting a while. *blush* But at least the paving is now done!

Your paving is beeeeautiful! And it seems to surround your house? Does it go up around the front, or is it mainly on the sides and back?

I love it, and for some reason....I can imagine you and Snell chasing your cats around on the cool, smooth surface laughing with glee lol :D

I don't even like beige/white houses and I still think this looks nice. Are you going to be putting in more plants or something over time on the pavement edge or is that how it's going to remain?
