According to the news, today was the hottest day in Perth in 2 years
(but not the hottest day in Ellenbrook).
So we sweltered through the day.
My knee kept saying, 'Pia, it's going to rain.'
And then it did rain. And it thundered. And there was lightning. And subsequent bushfires. And then a glorious moody sunset. The colours were just unreal.

Wow, those colors are unbelievable. Bush fires sound pretty scary though. Here we're having the warmest, driest winter that I can remember; it doesn't even seem like a real winter.

Thanks again for sharing things like this. They're so interesting and pretty to see!

Fire weather makes the best sunsets.
Unfortunately there's the bit about the fires. =/

Lovely photos, though!

Very striking! You would enjoy (if one can use such a term given the potential danger) the skies out on the prairies here in summer. Often cloud formations form which could precede tornados (it's rare, but possible), and one sees the most amazing range of colours and shapes and layers, etc. I've seen times where there's obviously wind of different speeds happening at different levels in the atmosphere, so that the clouds below were square and soft and just hung in the air, drifting gradually, while above them there were long streamers *racing* past. I've also witnessed a case (sadly when I did not have a camera with me) where the clouds formed a wall, perfectly straight, vertically. On one side, clear sky. On the other, a towering mass of rust and green and grey, with moving vortices in them. I was very careful crossing that line (I was driving) because the wind shear was incredible. I had never encountered such diverse and active skies until I came to this country, and I can see that Australia (or at least where you are) is the same. It is remarkable.

Nrggghhh. I so wish I lived closer too. Seeing it in person must have been even more striking.

I love that last one in particular - it looks like a galactic dust cloud. I took a lot of photos of the sky at the same time but haven't managed to trim down the candidates for posting.

Mmmmm.. Skiiiiieees. <3 Beautiful pictures. I miss our colorful skies, but winter here is usually either gray and overcast, or piercing blue with white fluff. Though it's not much of a winter, this year.. the warmest i've ever seen in michigan. We don't have any snow to speak of, where i am. It's more like April than January.
