It's 'get sunburnt in 5 minutes' weather outside.
I'm quite burnt out today,
but it wasn't entirely unexpected given how hard I pushed yesterday.
A little wolf spider lives here.
Even zie found it too hot to come see what was going on.

Señor(a) Spider has a very attractive, rustic style residence there. Xeriscaped lawn, too... :D

I love this shot! It'd be funny if the wolf spider came out to say hello in the middle of it (or more like "wtf the paparazzi again?!")

Hm, if it's in or near its last instar (given the hole I'm assuming so) then it should show somewhat enlarged male pedipalps even if they're not big and fancy like the adult forms will be. If by wolf spider you mean Lycosidae at least, and if it is a male.

I miss spider hunting now, that was a fun summer.

Had to google peacock jumping spider, ZOMG <3 Jumping spiders are so awesome. I think I saw them on a book before, but didn't know the name at the time.

For a long time, the only spider species I knew that burrowed were Trap-Door Spiders. Now I know another one! I think the things animals do are soooo interesting and awesome - like building little wells to sleep in! (It definitely looks like a mini well).

Anyway - I think it's so adorable and awesome when animals build things! I remember seeing some kind of special on spiders and webs and how scientists have yet to be able to replicate the way Black Widow's build their webs. Like the strength of the material. And how man animal structures, like ant hills, are very highly evolved and intricate and function very well! It's sooo cool. Animals have super powers!!
