Photo of the day. Jellyfish.

Today we went to AQWA,
The Aquarium of Western Australia.
Where I did my due diligence and got extraordinarily motion sick
but it was totally, totally worth it.
Then we got chips in gravy, sat at the harbour, on a perfect Spring day.

I saw the picture before reading the text, and I was like "oh wow, how'd she draw the jellies all glowy-like?" XD

I'd probably use magenta pastel pencil and a light blue, on a royal blue pastel paper! But it wouldn't be this pretty, I think.

We don't have manatees, we have dugongs; but no - no dugongs. :)

Jellyfish are such incredible organisms. Beautiful, and fascinating! *looks forward to more photos*

I really love jellyfish, I think they're extraordinary. For a brief two years, I had a really high tolerance to the stingers around here (not the really bad ones, just the general seasonal ones that come in) due to a lot of ocean swimming. It was kind of amazing to be able to swim and have them brush up against you.

I was very lucky they turned out. It helps that they pause minutely between movements - which gives good chances for photos.

I love jellyfish; I don't find them frightening, but I don't think I'd ever want to get anywhere near an irukandji either.
