[Art] WIP - Wandsuna - Mr and Mrs Finch

It feels like so long since I've been able to do any artwork. SO LONG.
I've decided that my current show to watch in the background of doing artwork is Life.
And I suppose that, in turn, has been inspired by watching Homeland.
Anyway, my fingers are now wrecked from smudging and blending.
It's a good feeling.

Let me be the first to say that this is absolutely stunning. Your style is wholly professional to a degree unsurpassed, and your "voice" as an artist has come into bloom more than ever. Just awesome.

Thank you. :) I hope to do some more Wandsuna illustrations, since I think they really challenge my voice as an artist in a way that totem illustrations don't (though maybe that's because the latter is more for the totems, and the former is more about expressing my own symbolic self, perhaps).

The colors and contrast...wow.

I hope it doesn't come across as offending, but the foxes reminds me very much of the Firefox's fox...which I like very much.

Doesn't come across as offensive at all! I've always used the same colours for the foxes, but I can see the Mozilla similarity! And that's kinda cool. :D

This is a really fascinating piece. Not that the rest of your Wandsuna pieces *aren't*, but this one really obviously tells an entire tale that stretches both forward and backward in time from the moment shown here. I'm also a little startled because the picture is different than the image I had for it in my head. There, the foxes were hatching out of the eggs, yes, but the next was on fire, a pyre for the Finches. I'm actually relieved that it's not.

I'm relieved I'm not the only one! I looked at this and went "But where are the flames?" I think I somehow conflated the cracked eggshells with fire.

Ah, I can definitely see from the earlier sketches why it came across as a pyre! Especially as it's more of a stylised nest than an accurately rendered nest. But no, I kind of always wanted to depict both Finches in their nest, with an unexpectedly devastating surprise on the 'happy day' their eggs hatched.

Those damned foxes. They're everywhere.

Woooow. I'm not sure what strikes me more -- the colors (I especially love how the brown of the paper shows through and blends with the pastels), or the emotional energy of the piece.

Amazingly vivid and detailed! I love the gorgeous saturation of colour you achieve with pastels. It's so eye-catching. Look forward to seeing the completed piece. :)
