This is the outline process;
it's deliberately kept faint to not damage the pastel paper
which is why I had to up the contrast in the photo.
It's amazing to be working in pastels again.
Already my study is starting to get that raw pigment / dust smell.

I should have more progress shots soon! I've already done a fair bit of colouring on both the finch heads today. :D

I can already feel my emotions stirring. I think this will personally be a very powerful piece (although your pastel Wandsuna pieces will always be my favorites), and I hope it'll be really rewarding to work through.

Aww, I really like this. What kind of finches are they?

They're actually two different kinds (and males of both, heh, whoops). They're both Australian species of firetail.

It looks amazing because sketches do! I often think sketches have this really awesome quality about them, :D
