Lots of different textures; I really enjoy how the illustration stretched me in this regard. Animal illustrations don't lend themselves to some of these textures, so it was good to bust out a different repertoire!

Any big nature scene will do that, I think. I was poring over all the different types of hatching and stippling and lining.

I got them from The Checkered Lily, I really liked her individual Youtube videos showing the different colours and stuff, I thought that was a really nice touch. I got five full-sized, and a ton of samples came free. :)

I love the individual details out of this so much. The rocks, the different barks/foliage. The grass! All of it is fascinating.

It's been fun to stretch myself in terms of textures, because I don't get to do some of these on animals (they just don't suit), like the contour lines on the moreton bay fig, and the scratchy, scribbly ground - which is so scratchy and scribbly, and then with a few sharp wavy triangles manages to look like a grassy, leaf littery floor.

I want to do more landscapes, I've decided. Maybe not this big, but certainly like this. It was fun. :)
