And I have a thousand things to do. Because it's tax-return time (end of financial year for Australians!), Centrelink time, oh, and because I got accepted for my Masters of Communications so it's enrolment and organising books time, and it's getting back to emails and getting through 300 things in my reader and 200+ Dreamwidth entries time.

Oh, and processing over 300 photos time.

CONGRATS!!! =)

And woot! XD Awesome shot. Also, that's totally why I have Lightroom. With it, I can process about 100 photos in an hour (and a half, if there's a lot of fine tuning) whereas before it would take me up to three hours!

But yay! Welcome back!

Lightroom is by Adobe as well. It's more of a photographer manager than straight up editor--it's meant to be the extension to photoshop that fills the gap for amateur to professional photographera where processing and bulk image handling is concerned. There are more editing tools and filters in photoshop--since photoshop was originally meant for digital drawing and painting and image manipulation--but while photoshop has all of Lightroom's editing controls and features, I find Lightroom's setup to be much better geared for traditional photography. The controls are more finessed, better laid out, and all alterations are non-destructive--essentially Lightroom imports each image and records all the changes you make as raw data. When you export the image, those changes are made to the image for exporting, but at any time in the present or future, you can get back to the original image (or any point in its history) with a single click. Being mostly a manager, Lightroom's batch handling capabilities are superb. You can even copy the edits you made to one photo and apply them to all photos, or select photos. There's also a portfolio export feature--you can export images directly to supported websites, your own website, or into a custom slideshow. Depending on what version of photoshop you have, the programs also piggyback--you can send a photo in Lightroom to be edited in photoshop and all changes are sent to Lightroom when you're done.

My novel aside, as to whether or not it's right for you, only you can say. I personally think anyone who takes pride in their photography should get it, but if you're rarely working with more than fifty photos at a time, it may not be worth it unless you really like keeping all your photos managed and organized with keywords. If the trial is avaialable for your country (given its Adobe, I wouldn't see why it wouldn't be) you could try the trial version out!
