Oh my god, the coloring on the feathers! The little stripe of grey/blue on the brown!

The feathers were tough! There's about four layers of colour in there, at least, and then the little painted stripes on the feathers. Dutch bantams have this wonderful gradation of colour in their chest feathers and wing feathers. It's really quite incredible.

The coloring on Dutch bantams is probably close to my favorite of all chicken feather patterns; at first glance, it's "brown," but there's so much there :)

So the iridescence of the male shows in the background? :) The haughtiness of this breed also shows through clearly -- and as always the details are amazing!

They were the 'show-poniest' of all the types I worked with. The barnevelder was probably the 'gentlest', but we'll see how colouring goes!

Oh wow, the gradient on the feathers is PERFECT! I continue to be so impressed and happy from these various hen energies. :D I definitely see the haughtiness.
