The paradise parrot had a pretty stellar colour scheme (brilliant and almost iridescent turquoise, with a lot of scarlet), but overall, yeah I'm interested to see how the colour turns out. I don't quite know yet.

This is *amazing*, finished or not. The spirals in the ground are very compelling. I noticed you used similar symbolism in your ant totem piece. Can you share why the ground is symbolized like that, or is it simply "because"? Likewise, the energy spirals that turn back on themselves for the parrot are fascinating. :)

Actually, it's kind of awesome you noticed the correlation, because the Paradise Parrot is on a stylised termite mound (they nested in termite mounds primarily); and I feel similar (though not the same) energies from termites and ants; so that probably came through in the inking process / symbolism stage.

I didn't expect anyone to know it was a termite mound, so much as just 'the thing the Paradise Parrot is sitting on,' but I think it's awesome that you saw a correlation between the ground + the ant totem illustration because termites + ants do give off fairly similar energies to me.

That does explain the glyphs(? Energy patterns?). So the markings then are indicative of ant/termite as opposed to "earth"! :)

I feel badly about the pigeon, however. While any post-Pleistocene extinction saddens me, I'm particularly bothered by the relatively modern ones.

Even though this is looking to be an absolutely amazing piece, the extinctions make me sad :( Lovely tribute.

The extinction makes me sad too. :( Especially as it was at human hands, which always just makes me a little sadder. I rue the days when zoologists mostly 'collected' animals by killing and preserving as many as they could.

This will be so awesome when it's coloured. No other parrot has a colour scheme quite like the Paradise Parrot.
