Guess who's been doing a lot of artwork lately?
Well.
I guess the answer kind of presents itself.

Why yes, those are tiny little dots on some of the scales.

The parrot's midway through inking, which is why it's not up yet. It'll get it's own post.
Oh, I've actually done a bit more of Katt's forest, but I want to do a specific thing on the illustration before I post a WIP shot. So... that's why there's been no update!

The scales on the koi and the barring on the pigeon's feathers are exquisite. Of course I'm also partial to the "type" of energy spirals on the pigeon. And the wallaby just strikes me as being very gentle. (Though I realize that appearances could be deceptive!)

The scales on the koi were a great deal of fun. I'm starting to think scaled creatures might win me over for a little while. :D

And the wallaby is quite gentle. It's one of the less common hare wallabies (so named because they're only the size of hares), and they are quite gentle animals.

Oh wow...I love the scales on the koi, and the contrast with the black background. What kind of pens do you use to get such fine detail?

The wallaby looks cute and cuddly, and the sparkle in the birds eye is so very pigeon!

I use Artline Drawing System permanent fineliners/technical pens in size 0.1, 0.5 and 0.8. :) I use the 0.1 for stippling and spirals and fur. Everything else is usually in a 0.5, and the large black sections I use the 0.8 for.

I think the wallaby is very cute and cuddly! And very very little. Hare wallabies are tiny.

Oh, I guess that's a good way to avoid the problem of clogging nibs! Is the black really as dark as it looks on screen, or do you adjust it after scanning?

*squee!* the hare wallaby is smaller than a cat! (looked it up) I want to see one IRL now...

The only thing I had to adjust it for, is the large black section on the koi, because the scan washed it out. But otherwise yeah, it's a really solid, waterfast (as opposed to 'fake waterfast' that many fineliners are) archival quality ink. I'm a big fan. I tend to cut down the nibs as I go though, because the material tends to stop letting the ink through as freely after a while, even if there's ink left. I have a lot of cut down fineliners. Heh.
