Crooked not because of the frame or the hanging,
but because of my crooked hand.

I've actually had this frame sitting around for a little while, and haven't put Portable Photovoltaic Systems into it, mostly because of laziness. But as I need to see if the framer's can put D-rings on the back (even though they haven't gotten back to me yet about whether or not it's a D-ring exhibition), I probably should put the illustration in the frame!

The frame you chose is excellent for this piece. :) I hope the exhibition ends up in a lot of sales for you. You deserve sales always, because your work is fantastic, but I feel like you've topped yourself in the work for this show -- the pieces from concept to presentation are just amazing!

Yikes. I'm really sorry to hear that. :( Is there not much of an art community in your state?

Maybe it'll at least direct people to your website and get them buying small pieces or prints?

Ugh. That's very unfortunate. I hope that if you do end up moving in future, you end up in a place with a larger arts community. The Internet is awesome for making connections possible, but I imagine it would be really excellent/convenient to be able to sell within your own area.

Oh, the frame is a *super* match. And while it's very difficult to pick, I think this one is my favorite out of your Steampunk series. I understand why you're keeping a realistic perspective about your odds of selling anything at the exhibition, but I'm very much hoping you'll be proven wrong. Those deserve to be snapped up, and at more than what you're charging!

Only tangentially related, but have you read the Windrose trilogy by Barbara Hambly? This illustration reminds me of the Wizard's Citadel in those books.

The series is somewhat dated now in terms of our technology, but the basic premise is "Computer programmer from our world stumbles onto a world where magic works" (and the magic works by natural laws, such as the seasons, types of stones, planetary alignments, etc.). I really like Barbara Hambly's stuff even though there tends to be a strong romantic component and I'm not much for romantic themes. Her world building tends to be quite complex, and she draws heavily on history, mythology, etc. to produce a good, fun, solid read.

What I was thinking of was the towers in your picture above. They remind me of the Citadel of Wizards, which is basically an old fashioned university with a fantasy twist (but more adult that Hogwarts). There are marvelously pun-laden names, intricate walkways, hidden chambers, etc. and it's a place I'd like to go wander about in. The Wizards are also mostly fond of cats, so there are many feline characters strolling about. :D (The books are The Silent Tower, The Silicon Mage, Dog Wizard, and set in the same universe Stranger at the Wedding. Her other books (what I've read of them, she's had a long career with a prodigious output) are also all at least good in my opinion, even if they obey the basic tropes of Fantasy. Given how long Hambly's been writing, she may have helped establish those tropes.
