No spirals, but quite a bit of stippling it looks like (particularly on Antechinus) ;P. They're both looking great, and I especially love this redo of Brolga (makes me wonder if there will be rainbow colors coming from the wing tips) =].
The stylistic difference in both of these is very interesting. Brogla reminds me of some of the traditional art of the native peoples of western Canada (and is very merry) while Antechinus is giving off a powerful wave of destruction...
Actually, all of the early illustrations (barring maybe five) didn't have spirals. But it is nice to get back to a style where they're not expected to be part of the textural expression of the illustration!
