[Art] Portable Photovoltaic Systems
Jan. 20th, 2011 07:46 amAnother illustration for the Future Imperfect exhibition.
In which my brief was to depict augmented animals
being used for future human profit and gain.
The other in the series is The Sea Shepherd.
Portable Photovoltaic Systems
- original to be available at the Natcon 50 exhibition in Easter 2011 (all things being equal) -
- PRINTS AVAILABLE HERE

Ravens - originally bringers and stealers of the sun in great mythology - become modified to absorb sun for the people, and then discharge it regularly into power stations.
With no flash - ETA: despite tweaking, the colour balance of this picture is wrong. Usually it's the other way around. But this morning, the flash photos show more accurate colour.

With flash, to highlight the bronze.

Large one for details.

Date: 2011-01-20 02:27 pm (UTC)Not to mention the center of attention is different for each version too. First one draws my eyes to the sun, whereas the second one makes me focus more on the ravens.
I still can't get over the detail, lol. The spirals are drawing me in more than usual.

Date: 2011-01-20 02:57 pm (UTC)I think the iridescent outline of the birds and the big spirals is especially powerful in this piece - it really glows against the rest of the colors. Which seems appropriate, since the birds are supposed to be storing energy to be released later.
I also really like how you finished the solar cells.
