Photo/s of the day.
Jan. 19th, 2011 05:34 pmHai, DWeamers.

My boys walking through King's Park.

First, we went to King's Park, which overlooks Perth city and the Swan River.

It was a gorgeous day. Glen had taken the day off, and it was the last time we're going to see Putu for a long time now. Years, perhaps.

War memorial.

We did what everyone should really spend some time doing at King's Park, which is lie down on the plush, cool grass in the shade of a jarrah tree.

Hi DWeamers, this is Putu. Who had never rested on the grass at King's Park before!

Hai, guyz.

This was the view of the canopy when we turned around and looked up. And we did. It was awesome.

Many dirty jokes were to be had in regards to setting up this photo. My touch phobia stayed mercifully dormant. But being out in nature makes it a little quieter anyway.

We saw some very strange tree graffiti.

And I saw a juvenile raven and had to take a gazillion photos because he was quite tame.

Grapes are the best!

Then we drove to Leederville. We were originally going to go to Greens andCo. Cock (that's what the graffiti says!), but we decided not to, despite its wonderfully illuminated interior. In the end we went to San Churro's Chocolatier, but we don't have photos of that or the food, because we were too busy eating (or they were, I can't have that kind of food when I'm out because of my IBS).

So then we decided to go to the Burger Bistro for an actual lunch. I was very enamoured of its ceiling. There were also Banksy pictures everywhere, which was awesome. And Kanye West was playing as we went in, followed by oldschool Frank Sinatra, which was a bit of whiplash!

I got an Agrum, but I didn't end up drinking it, and instead took it home and it's now in the fridge for later.

The two stooges to my musketeer. Sayonara, Putu. We're gonna miss you.

Date: 2011-01-19 02:43 pm (UTC)Otherwise of course I'm most taken with the photos of the raven. I always love how you can see them thinking about everything as they go about their business. And in general: it's very good to see you and Glen looking so happy. Awesome park, too. I'm also somewhat wistful about your weather. Not that it's particularly bad here at the moment, but warmer would be nice.

Date: 2011-01-20 02:22 am (UTC)It looks so beautiful and summer-y ^_^ The places you guys went to hang out look so nice too.
I WANNA COME VISIT!!! :D
That's what a raven looks like? I can never tell. People around here feed the pigeons! Are ravens pests there the way pigeons are super annoying here?
Also - your hair looks awesome!

Date: 2011-01-20 03:25 am (UTC)The juvenile raven was awesome. Very very well-adjusted to people, though the watchful adult nearby was a lot more wary (I'm kind of used to that with ravens though; the juveniles tend to be more tolerant of people, and the adults keep watch from a safe - often elevated - distance).
They rock. :)

Date: 2011-01-20 03:26 am (UTC)2. The juvenile raven was awesome. His eyes were just starting to lighten in colour to become the typical white that the adult's are. It's awesome.

Date: 2011-01-20 03:28 am (UTC)Yeah, that's a raven, a juvenile. The adults have white eyes. Ravens will sometimes be deterred from places of work, because they can be very noisy; but they're a protected species. They're not feral like pigeons or seagulls (which are also pests here).

Date: 2011-01-24 05:12 am (UTC)Also, seeing you smile made me smile till my face hurt, and I don't even know why. Your hair is looking good, on a vanity-related sidenote.
I am so blabby today.
That is all! <3

Date: 2011-01-24 06:29 am (UTC)What Australia kind of lacks is a really cemented, grounded culture of the kind found in many other countries that have more than 200 years of history. Western Australia can really suffer in this respect, but if you're coming for how a place looks; Australia is so high on my list. Kings Park - above - most days you visit look exactly like that. We don't get much rain or cloud-cover here, so yeah... most days. :)

Date: 2011-01-30 10:34 pm (UTC)That being said, the scenery and the flora/fauna are what really draw me to Oz. And the undercurrent feel I get from the place. I'm actually planning a tentative 2 week vacation in August *shakes fist at finances*. The friend I'm going with is just going to visit her friends and check out the art scene, which seems fun, but I also hope to do a lot of sight-seeing!
