These are glorious! I really love the Coelacanth -- the blues, the "flat" eye, the stoniness of the scales. And the Aardwolf -- of course, and the beautiful leaves particularly on the Sugar Glider. :)

I love the flat eye of the coelacanth too actually. I don't know what it is about the past 12 months but I've been drawn more and more to illustrating fish and reptiles.

:) FEESH! I would like to draw more fish, I think. They are interesting energies. I've been loving reptile and fish energies over the past year. Which made me realise I didn't know *anyone* with a fish totem. Hm.

Huh.

Coelacanth seems creepy, lurk-y and ominous. I think it's a combo of the teeth, eyes, glyph and the energy 'tendrils'.

Beautifully done, but disturbing.

Sugar Glider 'feels' perky, alert and curious. Aardwolf seems somehow a little melancholy. I think it's the eyes.

I really love the sugar glider one. There's something about all those colours together and the positioning that really looks wonderful.

Can I be random? I was watching a program where the host was looking for certain creatures in the Baja penninsula in Mexico, and found a mole lizard. Have you heard of them before? It is so cool! It initially looks like a really pink worm... with forelegs... and a face... and it's actually rather cute.

I like the sugar glider one too. She changed her mind right at the end! It was originally going to be a way different colour scheme.

I have heard of mole lizards, but not for a long time, and it's always nice to be reminded! They are adoooorable. Like the teddy bears of the lizard world.

Does the symbol on the coelacanth mean anything?

[moonvoice]

The glyphs always mean something (or more than one thing), and are given to me directly by the totem (such as the arrow glyphs in the icon you've used). That said, I tend to leave interpretation up to the viewer. I know a few people have seen a jellyfish in the above glyph cannot unsee, but I find the glyph personally quite ominous.

The ceolecanth is like the things that freaked me out in Planet Earth's "Deep Ocean" segment. Very awesome, and the black section is perfect for framing the animal itself.
