tsukikokoro got it (in amongst a whole list of other animals).
It's unusual for me because I believe this is probably the second ever cat totem I've done, and the first big cat. I also don't particularly love lions.

Also, why so many people draw lions awake during the day is beyond me,
they like to be doing the hunting at night time.

the level of detail in this is freaking incredible. What's the size of the original? I just love the stars and hills and his mane, the colors are lovely together. every time I see a new picture from you I think "she just keeps getting better, must save money for a commission >:|"

The size of the original is A4 (21 x 29.7 centimetres... not sure what that is in inches). It's not hugely bigger than the picture on the screen, though you can see more detail on the original. :)

If my dad were a critter, he'd be a lion; of that I'm sure. But he'd be one of those lazy males sun bathing and taking the best scraps of meat. He has said so on many occasions himself. :3 Also a total insomniac and good for keeping bad guys away from the family.

I'm a fan of violet and blue tones... so this image strikes me as gorgeous. I love the various dark and light lines in this.. very graphic.

I think the lion/daytime thing is simply the view that lions are solar creatures. That, and their color shows up better in sunlight.
