I think getting burned is inevitable if you work in a kitchen. I didn't get quite as burned at Starbucks as I do at this cafe, but this cafe uses a self-tamping espresso machine instead of pulling automatic shots. I also don't use the milk thermometer much; which means I measure the heat by the sound of the milk and my hands on the hot metal jug.
I like to think that soon I will be able to pull hot trays out of the oven without gloves. ;)
