Been working on art while I've been working on the writing!
(Sometimes creative output just spills out,
all over the place).
I've realised now that I have like seven social media sites
to post artwork to.
That's ridiculous, lol.

Black Capped Chickadee // Poecile atricapillus

‘Anyone who’s met me knows how brave I can be! How quickly I can light up any dreary winter, or any dreary day for that matter! I can be bold and strong, or clever and canny, or agitated and aggressive, but you’ll feel my energy when I want you to! I know the wisdom of the winds and I bet I know my spaces better than you know yours. I hope you like a gauntlet being thrown down on occasion, because I will throw one. With me by your side we will think quick, talk often, take necessary risks and say what we mean. Look deeper, and I can help you connect to yourself, know when to shut down, know when to check out. We shall find joy in the small things, you and I!’

Keywords:

Boldness and bravery. Fearlessness. Sensing your environment. Feeling out spaces around you. Mental acrobatics. Intellect. The small things mean more than you think. Big energy in small packages. Saying what you mean. Speak your truth. Strong felt-sense. Checking out safely. Connection to air wisdom and air elementals. Knowing where you stand. A love of vocabulary. Adaptation and adjustment. Necessary risks. Enthusiasm. Sharp-wit. Good cheer. Bolshiness.

Tawny Eagle // Aquila rapax // Original available at Etsy

‘Oh-ho-ho, I suppose you think I’m like all the other eagles, and I dearly like for people to underestimate me. After all, I’m the only eagle brave enough to steal from humans! The only eagle bold enough to take what I believe is mine. I will grip life and death in my talons and make meals of both, and if you want me as an ally, I hope you have a canny mind, because I love a challenge. The warm, dry, desert places lend me wisdom, and if you respect me, I can show you the magic of the sun, the winds, and what it is to see clearly, across all things.’

Keywords:

Sky pirate. Day flying. Scavenging. Embracing warmth and heat. Take what you can get. Flight in all worlds. The bigger picture. Insight. Keen observation. Knowing when to speak. Carrion connection. Life and death cycles. Understanding death. Savannah, desert and steppe wisdom. Mistaken identity. Solar energy. Solar deities.

Black Wallaroo // Macropus bernardus // Original available at Etsy

‘I’ll be honest, not many people know I exist, and I tend to hide from those that do. I don’t need to make connections over and over again. I like quite liminal spaces – dawn and dusk, and the caves that I will make use of and hide in. Are you looking for concrete answers? You might not find them with me. I teach acceptance of one’s place in life, and I can help you understand that it’s all right to not have all the answers, to not connect with everyone, to not need to know everything. I’ve never needed much space to be perfectly content, and if you want me as an ally, I will show you the wisdom that may reveal itself when you are quiet, when you allow uncertainty.’

Keywords:

Mountain wisdom. It’s okay to be shy. Looking closely. Examinations. Escape plans. Introversion. Wisdom in shyness. Hidden wisdoms. Vibrating to black and grey. Connection to caves. Grounding and anchoring. Wariness. Not needing much room. Sandstone wisdom. Not everything needs to be known. Allow uncertainty. Dawn and dusk wisdom.

Icelandic Sheep // Ovis aries

‘We have adapted to some of the harshest environments, and not only find enough nourishment to survive, but enough to thrive. We are so much more than what you think of, when you think of sheep, and sheep are always more than others know anyway. We are the leader who senses the unseen and the invisible, we are the flock that understands status, place, intelligence, and what to do with our lives. We know most couldn’t live the way we live, and turn it into gold. It’s a kind of alchemy isn’t it? For you to spin our wool into fibre and fabric and clothing. But we have a deeper alchemy. We are good allies to those who turn privation to nourishment, who seek to find glory in places others call barren. Let other animals only survive in their difficult places, you may come with us, and learn how to thrive instead.’

Keywords:

Finding wisdom where others flee. Understanding difficulty. Making do. Turning hardship into gold. Efficiency. Sensing the invisible and unseen. Curiosity. Hardiness. Connecting with the Other while seeking kin. Conforming / non-conforming. Safety first. Seeking the like-minded. Trust. Being easily underestimated. Endurance. Alchemy. Making the most of poor environments. Recognising leadership. Knowing where you stand.
