Very cool. Good for giving the offering to Odin first (He likes blood), and I say if the rune mat works for you it doesn't care where it comes from. Besides which, Tacitus said that people would draw lots made of fruit-bearing twigs on a white cloth, so there you go.
I work with the 33-rune Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, which has the same 24 runes plus 9 extra, because I always preferred the 96 box of crayons as a kid and more runes is just... more runes.
I will definitely be interested in the "how to read a casting" post. It always tickles me to see how people do things.
