The Paradise Parrot was a very colourful, woodland parrot, endemic in Australia.
You can tell from the past tense, that it went extinct due to hunting and human habitation in 1927.
Here it is, depicted in totem form, a rare illustration of a bird that is no longer, evoking its spirit and energy.

There's so much about this apart from the bird itself that's fascinating: the leaves, the termite mound... it's really one of those pieces where one looks, and looks again, and keeps looking! :)

The coloring here is absolutely gorgeous. I am intrigued by the termite mound in particular. I'm not sure why, but I am...

This is so beautiful... everything about it has an ebb and flow, the energy very distinct just from looking at it. I love the way the leaves seem to blend into the bird and the energy. :) Like they're reaching for each other.

Along with the colour scheme, which is amazing, I think my favourite part about this image is how you've played with the 3D & 2D stuff. I mean, I see a fair amount of that in much or all of your work. But in this piece, with those rocks, it just really stands out. I love the mostly 2D-ish rocks with bits of shading and the more 3D bird.

This one strikes a chord in me somehow... i can't really explain it.. Most of the time i am very wary and reserved-bordering on afraid of parrots.. but this one is different somehow. Even though it's extinct, it feels very 'present' to me here... There is an interconnected sort of feeling here, and a timelessness.

I have no idea what i'm rambling about.

Beautiful.
