Photo/s of the day.
Feb. 6th, 2011 01:45 pmVarda the Finnish Lapphund

Sadly though, no more dog pictures. Glen and I were more concerned with meeting the dogs, rather than taking photos of them.
The bushfire in the hills - as at 1.46pm it's still pretty bad. They're asking people to evacuate.

Water chopper.

They also bred performance horses (particularly show-jumping).

Date: 2011-02-06 11:44 pm (UTC)Actually they had a good property. They made their own cold-pressed olive oil (olive trees grow particularly well in Western Australia, so along with all the wineries, we have a LOT of access to fresh extra virgin olive oil, and olive oil products; that + truffles that grow here, give WA a particularly mediterranean feel, oh, that and we have mediterranean weather, heh). They also grew their own hay.
And it's shocking what some people to do their horses (or don't do for their horses). :/ These horses, even though not all were able to be ridden, were friendly and approachable, gentle and sweet.

Date: 2011-02-08 07:46 pm (UTC)Fires are terrifying in their power, you know? And int he utter powerlessness we have in the face of them. If we're lucky, we can control the burn so it doesn't spread, but nothing puts them out until they're ready to. Stay safe out there.
