Date: 2012-09-19 02:45 am (UTC)2. What are the glyphs on the cheetah and caracal?
3. Ista (see pic), currently lying on my desk, says "Keep that ink away from ME!"

Date: 2012-09-19 02:47 am (UTC)2. The glyphs are given to me from the animals themselves, and they are up to the person who is viewing the image / working with the animal itself to interpret. Over the years, I've heard a lot of amazing interpretations of the glyphs, so I don't spoil it - where possible - with my own feelings/interpretations on the matter.
3. Heh. :)

Date: 2012-09-19 08:06 pm (UTC)It always makes me happy to see some smaller felines represented. Your concept of serval energy seems "foreign" to me, but maybe that will change when it's colored? It's nice to see others interpretations of totems too, of course, especially if they're very different than mine. It's like seeing a familiar object from a new angle, and almost thinking it's a whole new object before realizing, no, you know this object but have just never seen this side of it.
I've always admired your inking skills, probably because they're so different than my own rough, tameless lines. It's just not in my personality to be so sophisticated and smooth with lines, and I tend to admire/be attracted to art styles that are different than my own.
Do you have any plans for Marbled Cat? If not, I may commission it through your Etsy in the future, as I have just noticed that listing.

Date: 2012-09-20 12:53 am (UTC)My sense of serval is probably quite different to some people's (although the same can be said for a lot of totems). I've had a relationship with them for over 20 years, and it's shifted / transformed a lot in that time. Living with a rescue hybrid myself has also altered my perspective on many of the small cats (though servals are remarkably different to asian leopard cats).

Date: 2012-09-28 02:24 pm (UTC)I do have a rescue dog that's part coyote (one parent was a coydog, the other a husky). She's unique, to say the least. I've learned a lot about canines and friendship from being her caregiver and companion.
