I'm watching Angel at the moment.
Is there anything in the world stupider than
that episode where Angel is making all the stupid baby voices
at his baby?
There's so much of season 3 that I loved, and so much that I loathed.
And it's all coasting into that hideous Jasmine season.
Which is pretty much just the prolonged metaphorical rape-of-Cordelia-followed-by-death,
and a 'great' way of a show to destroy pretty much their strongest female character.
GAH.

Sketches make everything better.

I found the whole Jasmine storyline pretty upsetting. Especially having grown to really love Cordelia and all the growing she did on Angel. :|

The sketches are LOVELY though. EEE, GUINEA PIG.

It was just so utterly disrespectful to her character, her character arc, her character development - strong female character, becomes more empowered throughout the season, only to be possessed against her will, forced to have sex with a character that is like her son (so not only rape then, but also incest), followed by dying / becoming a 'higher power' that essentially becomes powerless on the show and disappears.

It made me furious.

Yeah, it made me several shades of rage. *shakes head* This is why we can't have nice things. And by nice things, I mean strong female characters.

Agree entirely. Wanted to vomit when in a special feature, writers called it their best season of Angel. As if. If they really thought so, they wouldn't have needed the "Ha ha, everyone forgets, it WAS ALL LIKE A DREAM" cop out at the end. No one wants to deal with the consequences of writing THAT awful. ADMIT IT, WRITERS.

Watching that happen to Cordelia after she became such an amazing character was almost painful.

Yup. That pretty much ties with the anti-abortion guilt trip via Darla in terms of when that show most pissed me off.

Oh man, they really put a lot of the female characters through hell on Angel. They obliterated Fred, too. D:

Ya know, for a show (and its spin-off) based on the idea of "what if the blonde victem in the horror movies kicked ass instead? the ratio of male-to-female deaths among the protagonists is waaaaay unbalanced.

Female protagonist deaths: Cordelia, Fred, Tara, Joyce, Anya, Jenny Calendar

Male protagonist deaths: Doyle, Westley (at the very end)

Not sure if it really means anything. All of Firefly's major deaths were male (still hurtin' mightily for Wash).

I really loathed season 4.

But I loved season 5. Granted, mostly because of Illyria, but hey. >_>

I liked season 5 a lot too. And really liked Illyria. Shame they had to obliterate yet another female character to do it.

I really loved Fred. I expected to hate Illyria because Fred was one of my favorite characters in the show, but I really identified with Illyria a lot (which probably does not say great things about me, heh). I actually intend to get the "Serve no master but your ambition" quote from Illyria tattooed, when I have that infamous spare $$$.

Almost none, actually. I've never been a big sketcher, so I probably only sketch things that don't end up finished about two or three times a year, max.

my younger sister, who ADORES guinea pigs and bred them for several years, loves your guinea pig art. she says you're one of the few people who capture their essence accurately. :)

OMG the guinea pig! ~dances around~ :D i have a huuuge huge love of guinea pigs. (That i always forget until i see one or a picture of one, then i freak out again.) <3

My very first pet when i was three was a guinea pig named Freddy. They remind me of simple joys.

I love the expressions on both of these! Usually your animals are Gestalt (for want of a better word in English -- there may be one, but I can't think of it). These two, however, are very much individuals, with individual expressions. It's an interesting difference. :)
