However, if you want to try your luck, contact me at ophelias.diary@gmail.com for what you've got in mind and prices. I always have originals for sale over at My Etsy account.
You know, now that you say it, I am thinking about it now! Especially as I have the power to make it about twice the size, with the amount I've done. Or even to release country specific, or animal specific posters - like a 'bird totem' poster.
If I knew what to ask for I would ask, because I could really *use* some guidance at the moment. Since I don't know what totem to ask for though, I suppose I'll have to be content with admiring the other pieces you've done.
It's like that sometimes, isn't it? Sometimes I open up for commissions myself when no other animal is pinging me to get drawn. Like, I *want* to draw, but no one is talking.
Having only 8 slots open sounds like a good way to prevent overwork, from your previous concerns. Hope this works out for you :) (it should, lol, those slots will probably be filled long before I'm finished saving up XD).
I'm also quite keen to that poster idea, if you care to make any. I could also see you making them all a tiled border around a single image full of animals.
Question: What if you're able to contact the totem just fine, but you have a hard time working with the energy or dislike it? Is that animal off-limits as well? I remember you saying something like that with regards to spiders.

Nope, I have and will continue to work with animals that are 'difficult' for me, but where the animal still contacts me or will work with me, y'know? :)
I want to try rearranging them so that the curves of circles progress from one square to the next and the next. The polar bear and (fiddler?) crab to the left of it already do.
Unimpressed bear looks unimpressed. And inscrutable. What was I thinking. :P
If only i knew who to ask for. Aaauugh. This is cool, i hope it goes really well for you (so that you might decide to do it again someday.. ) :D
And, wooow, they look amazing all together like that. I would love to see any arrangements of them you come up with! Themes, color gradient.. they all sound awesome.
Another pricing area you may consider from those of us who have purchased your work (I love, love, LOVE my lioness, btw!) is licensing. I am writing a ebook on Leonine deities and would like to see you get compensated for your work, etc. by what you have in place for yourself. By the same token, I will contact you about another work for another project.
Important questions to consider as more and more people become aware of your work, my friend. :)
Commercial licensing is offered on a case by case basis depending on project. There are no public fixed prices, because the cases differ depending on whether it's a sketchpad cover / CD cover / business logo / book cover / internal illustration / etc.
But as with all artwork unless explicitly stated otherwise, *none* of my clients own the copyright to originals they've purchased off me, and cannot use them commercially without negotiating a new contract. Nor can they dictate how I choose to use those images commercially, without negotiating limited rights to copyright.
Generally people just get in touch via email for commercial contracts and it works fine. As I very rarely do commercial art except via publishing companies, it's worked well so far. If I start getting a greater call for it, I might put something up here; but most people who seek me out for commercial contracts do so through my professional portfolio, or through DeviantArt or my Facebook fanpage. Thanks for the advice though! :) Look forward to hearing from you.
I wasn't very good in expressing what I meant. Of course, I know that you as the artist retain all copyright to your work. I need to dig up your email and contact you regarding that. I do have a small publishing company of my own and so being the wierdo that I am, started the process here. (Sometimes i sucks to be spontaneous!) ;)
I desperately want to commission you if you are available some time soon. I'm not sure what your availability is like or what sort of options you have (I see the listing you have on Etsy, is that generally the sort of custom work you do, or...?)
Anyway, when you get a chance, I'd love to hear back from you about it.
Sure! Flick me an email over at ophelias.diary@gmail.com :) And yeah, the listing I have on Etsy is generally the sort of work I do, but if you had something else in mind, just let me know. :)
Hey, I'm sorry, I wanted to comment on the original thread where we talked about this but I couldn't find it.
Money is really tight right now, but I am absolutely interested in buying the piece we talked about and should PROBABLY be able to do so in the next month (i.e. sometime before February). Is that okay? If not, please let me know and no hard feelings!

Hiya, yes, it is still okay! :) I'm actually taking quite a relaxed stance to artwork over the Christmas / first quarter period, so please don't feel any pressure or any anxiety (at least from my side) if you want to go ahead in a month or two, or even if you decide that you can't. <3

Date: 2010-03-12 10:38 pm (UTC)I've also thought about doing one that has colour gradation from say white down to black, with the spectrum in between.
That would take a while though, methinks.

Date: 2010-03-12 02:53 pm (UTC)Whilst I definitely want a piece of your art, I'm not entirely sure just yet which is the right totem for me at this moment.
We might have to talk about this at some point...
Still, Dibs!

Date: 2010-03-12 03:00 pm (UTC)Still unsure which would be the right animal, guess I'll have to discuss that with a few people and see if there's a consensus.
I'm sure we can come to some agreement, though.

So I'll send you a e-mail later, if that's okay.
