Photo/s of the day.
This is the 'coloured pencil' part of the process. One of my favourite parts actually, because essentially it's just smoothing everything out, blending things in, picking out highlights, and it's a lot like colouring in an awesome colouring in book! Plus, you can see the difference like this (I didn't know if it would be as obvious if I didn't compare and contrast).
Compare and Contrast

I haven't touched the flowers, or the background yet, I've worked on her face, hair, the cloak, and the wolf's face, and the energy spirals. :)

I love love love the richness of the colours. The biggest shame is that they detract from the linework, but in a way, I like that too; almost like this complex linework is a part of the secret of the image. People in person can see it; but reproductions can't show it in the same way.

I feel exactly the same way about complex digital artwork. Lol.
As for time, you know, it doesn't take as long as you might think. Colouring always takes less than 8 hours (clumped together, I spread it out because of drying and you know, brain stuff), even on something this size.
I think part of it is that I have like... over a decade of colouring / using colours, and I just do it fast. I don't have to take time matching colour swatches in Photoshop, and I generally know exactly what I want. Usually my grumbling is 'where has scarlet lake gotten to? Where is my peacock blue?'
I mean, this will be finished tomorrow, very likely; even with all the blending / layering and stuff.

It is. I love it, I love the stuff that straddles that slightly darker line though; like Rose Red / Snow White.

It just depends on how you use them, and taking the time to get to 'know' them. They can take a while to get to 'know.'

Regular paper of any kind couldn't handle how I worked it.
