It is a Saturday morning,
I think we're watching TV and not doing very much.
Yesterday we stumbled onto a 'Wellness Expo' at Hillarys.
People were promising to get people quitting smoking in 60 minutes.
With kinesiology.
I call bullshit. (Not that I have a problem with kinesiology; just with bullshit)

We were told that the octopus was being 'unusual active,' I was happy with this bit of synchronicity, since an octopus will be in my latest Wandsuna illustration. So I took a lot of pictures.

Wow. How do you get such clear shots? I've never been able to do that with shooting into aquariums - they make me dizzy. Lol.

The jellyfish are awesome. =D

A steady hand (I don't have a tripod, I DO have a very steady hand!), no flash, wider focus on my macro lens (55mm), and tweaking the motion setting a little. I alternated between manual and auto-focus, depending on what I was taking photos of. In the cases of the fish, I sometimes moved as slowly as they were moving, or matched the camera to their movement; that way the photo looks like a non-moving fish in focus, instead of a moving fish that's blurring past the camera. That was hard to do though, and only worked in some cases (the scorpionfish, mostly).

But that being said, I didn't even try to photograph some of the exhibits (like the aquarium walkthrough tunnel where the loggerhead turtles and sharks were), there was just never enough light.

I agree about the lack of light being a problem. And, I have to say that I am amazed at how steady your hands.

Lack of light was the worst problem. Though I was surprised at the photos that did turn out - the jellyfish was an extremely dark exhibit, and the octopus one was as well. I probably too twice as many photos as actually turned out (or maybe even three times as many), but I was shocked to really get anything at all.

There were two more jellyfish exhibits - and nothing turned out in those. It's a hard place to take photos, and I noticed there weren't many other people there even bothering.
