Northern Harrier (Hawk) as Totem


Also known as the hen harrier, marsh hawk and harrier hawk (although true harrier hawks are found in Africa and Madagascar). They are commonly found in rural areas, wetlands and swamps. In the UK they are hunted as a pest (because they hunt game birds too, oh no! Silly humans), resulting in regional extinctions, and there are - approxinately 10-20 breeding pairs left. There are a lot, but the 'too many of them' is very reflective on there being 'too many of us,' and as I don't hate humans, I don't hate pigeons. I kinda like them. They're just exploiting the suburbs in the same way that we do.
