[Art] Polar Bear as Totem

[livejournal.com profile] heathwitch, do you want to email me at ophelias.diary@gmail.com to yay or nay this piece?

I actually went with more 'deep sea' colouring, than icy colouring, because I feel that this more accurately represents the transition that our beloved, fragile and fierce polar bear is undertaking as I write this.

I also get the sense that polar bear doesn't mind the colours I chose. Heh. This is one of my favourites that I've done for a while, actually.

Iridescent green in the energy circles.

31 GBP (on hold)
18.5 x 20.5cm (or 7.4 x 8 in)
illo's board, fineliner, aquarelle, pencil, metallic paint

mmm.. I get a proud, strong, yet slightly desperate feeling from this, which makes sense. I love the colors like crazy.

I love the throat, and the eye, and the mouth. And i can't tell if polar bear feels masculine or feminine to me, at the moment. Bear usually comes to me as female, but polar bear is currently feeling masculine.

Not that it matters. Love!

He looks surprisingly serene despite being in such peril.

Ohhhh...Nanuk! I missed your last patch of totem art. Chinchila is too cute and I looove the icy blue colors Polar Bear has for his background!
