Some Carnaby's cockatoos decided to hang around the back of our house today.
They brought the rain with them.
They also brought the silly.
They can't help it.
Endangered birds can still be silly.

I've not seen Carnaby's cockatoos before.
They look like they're having fun anyway.

:) As beautiful as they are, they look completely riotous (which I know is usual for parrots in a group). Heh. I can practically hear the racket!

They really are. And very big! About twice the size of our ravens.

Carnaby's cockatoos are amazing. Critically Endangered, and might not be here in a few years, but amazing. And steeped in local Indigenous lore as well. I really hope that they can recover from all the things that are currently destroying them.

Very noisy and rackety! But not as bad as rainbow lorikeets or juvenile pink and grey galahs. Carnaby's cockatoos tend to make the most of their racket in flight, and it's an amazing, piercing, 'WEELAH! WEELAH!' sound, that they all make together. It's hard to explain why that's so awesome, but I find it a very inspiring, uplifting sound; as opposed to rainbow lorikeets which are extraordinarily shrill and painful.
