<3

I wish I could see closer though :)

[identity profile] gishkishenh.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I have many paper-babies too! We should so go through each other's libraries! XD

[identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I miss having more books, but I like having them out on display like this. :)

[identity profile] gishkishenh.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell me about it! I wihs I had a snazzy library/shelves like that! I miss having floor space. XD

[identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Floorspace is indeed pretty win. The last blank patch of wall we have is for the piano, and then everything will be taken up with other things! Heh.

[identity profile] thoraofthenord.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Nice. I like the fact that I recognize a bunch just from the general look of their spines. XD I really wish I had nice shelves--I have two cramped, small shelf units but the shelf space isn't geared towards books = lots of stacking.

[identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
It was one of the things we put money aside for when we moved out - decent Ikea bookshelves. :)

[identity profile] white9-fox.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Is that Smokey in the middle's frame?

[identity profile] silverjackal.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Are those IKEA shelves? I have MARKÖR (http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/50099027) in "Antique" stain, and they're holding up very well. I like the fact that they are off the floor, and so can be cleaned under with ease. Alas, I could use *more* because I have about 200 books in boxes in storage, in addition to the seven full sized shelves (full). I love books, and would spend ridiculous amounts of money on them if sanity didn't prevail. :D

[identity profile] himmapaan.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes; I have hundreds of those babies too. :) But there are so many stacks of them on the floor and at the foot of the bed. I long for a proper library.

[identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, they're the LEKSVIK range, which is also what our TV cabinet, coffee table and CD towers are in. :) Pretty awesome.

[identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
A proper library would be amazing wouldn't it? With comfy chairs and everything there to look at and access easily.

[identity profile] kettunainen.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
oh Leksvik, how I love thee. Do you have the cubby-hole coffee table? I covet that but have no room for it. We have the buffet and the nightstand.

I'm trying to figure out how the books are arranged, and I want to say by genre, but I'm not certain. Looks like a lot of sci-fi/fantasy on the left side and more reference, etc., on the right, with the middle being a little bit of this and that.

[identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! The cubbyhole coffeetable. I keep all my cross-stitch stuff in there, and Glen's magazines, and cookbooks. It's *awesome* We actually have it against a wall though, instead of in the middle of the room.

Um the books go - from left (down) to right (down) - fantasy/sci fi, YA/YA fantasy, art books, general literature, something I forget, graphic novels, my nature books, science and media and trauma books, and then everything else. Heh.

[identity profile] bodylove.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
wow you are so lucky!!

[identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
That's not luck, that's 14 years of hard work and savings. :)

[identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
Good call! That's Smokey in the middle. :D

[identity profile] freyaw.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
:D And from the looks of things, within each fiction category, they're arranged alphabetically by author.

Don't mind me, it amuses me no end figuring out what people have in their library by the cover patterns (top left: Anne Bishop - Dreams Made Flesh? Don't know the lovely ones to the right of it, but to the right of those are Eddingses and below the Eddingses are Anita Blakes (Laurell K Hamilton) - I'd have to go look at my shelf to figure out whether you've got those in series order :P ). And I mean 'amuses' in a good way :D

[identity profile] amhrantine.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
I see Robin Hobb and JK Rowling! What are the row of four on the upper left corner?

[identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, they're... some trilogy by Cecilia Dart-Thornton. The Weather Witch series, Wind Witch, I don't know, something like that... *blush*

[identity profile] moonvoice.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah unfortunately I've only got three Eddings books, and everything else on that top shelf is Charles de Lint and Cecilia Dart-Thornton. I've always wanted the complete Belgariad / Mallorean, but haven't had the money for a long time.

[identity profile] saevor.livejournal.com 2010-01-24 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
In our new apartment we have six shelves like yours, and I'm very happy with them ^_^. On the old one we had only four, but had a lot of books all around the place (in the kitchen, in the bedroom, in the living... -the shelves were on the corridor because the living and bedroom were so tiny that we couldn't put them there).
I still have some books on the main bedroom, some of the books of my daughter and some mine because I always have books on the nightstand to read when I go to sleep.
