Hi folks, it's poll-time again! This time for the Totems of the Ocean (Vol I) book.

Hi folks,

As you probably know, I write short totem files based on a description and keywords, and then I write long totem essays which break down those keyword meanings, explain potential shadow totem meanings and usually give some information about how best to contact the totem for self-work purposes. All of this is at Wildspeak.

In working on my new Totems of the Ocean (Vol. 1) book, I've completed all of the short totem files, but would now like to expand 10 of these into essays. I'd like to invite your input. I know of two I'm going to do already, but I'd like you to help me figure out which of the following would make great choices for the following 8. :) Thanks! Feel free to pass the word around, especially to people who you know are interested in the ocean, or ocean creatures.

Sadness. I'm the only one so far that said pineapple sea cucumber. I don't even know what one is, but a sea pickle sounds yummy. :)

The pineapple sea cucumber will still be in the book! Just with not as much rambling attached to it, perhaps. *g* But the keywords are already written!

just relooked at the poll before replying to your reply. I'm thinking I must not be the only one grossed out by worms hehe. XD

And eww! I just looked up the sea cucumber and it totally doesn't like what I imagined and kinda looks like a freaky spiked worm to me. Err, that's possibly just because I was obviously thinking about worms right before. >_>

And just throwing this in here, but the totem I mentioned I bought earlier this year was a Hawaiian one.

The two I've already chosen are kind of a secret, but one of them is actually in the list (and not likely to end up in the top 8), which is... what I suspected, I guess? I just wanted to see if anyone would vote for it. :D

I just don't get why Beluga Whales are so popular. I seem to be missing something fundamental here about these things.

I do love belugas for spiritual reasons, but I think people just - in general - tend to be drawn to them and narwhals because of general Arctic awesomeness. I now feel obliged to use my beluga icon.

Don't laugh at what I'm about to say! But I remember a Full House episode where the littlest girl was obsessed with a children's song called "Baby Beluga" and sang it so much it was driving some of them nuts. Maybe other people listened to it as a child? :)

Or more likely moonvoice's reason hehe.

This was a difficult choice! I am sad that other people are not as interested in the Pompeii worm as I, but such is life. :D

I know! I'm sad about that too actually. Pompeii worms are brilliant!

I'd most want to see Phytoplankton and Krill. Without them the biosphere of the whole ocean would collapse and the rest of the world would probably be doomed to.

And also Nautilus. Because Fibonacci sequence!

If Antarctic Krill doesn't make it, I'll do an essay on them anyway. I had a lot of fun researching them, and the basic totem file is quite interesting. Phytoplankton was awesome. In the end I decided on phytoplankton over zooplankton because, er, because, er... zooplankton can wait its turn. ;)

Those all sound so interesting, but the phytoplankton and Krill the most so.
