[Art] Masked Lapwing as Totem

[livejournal.com profile] tsukikokoro, do you want to email me at ophelias.diary@gmail.com to yay or nay? :)

The masked lapwing (Vanellus miles), also known as the spur-winged plover and masked plover is a large wader found in Australia. It is a vocal bird with a diverse array of calls which can be sounded both during the day, and at night. During breeding season; particularly when eggs have just hatched, the masked lapwing can be a very aggressive bird, swooping dogs, cats and viciously chasing ravens of its territory. They are also known to strike at humans with the spur on their legs (and no, that spur does not contain any venom as urban legend would have it).
