Ugh, horses. My friend's has tried, not once but TWICE, to remove his left front hoof. He thought the grass was greener so he leeeeeeeaned and pawed and WHAM. Barbed wire around the hoof. He panicked, digging the wire in so deep he nearly lost the hoof at the joint.

I'm pleased to report he's made a full recovery from BOTH incidents, and will no longer go within 4 feet of a fenceline. Dumb beast >.< TWICE!
