Scrub Jays are awesome. They can "mentally time travel." If you present them with two kinds of food (say peanuts and hazelnuts) at night, then deprive them of one of those in the morning, they will differentially cache the night before--only caching the one that will be missing..

They're also able to recognize who is watching them when the cache their food. If they're watched, then their caches are later stolen, they know which bird is was and react accordingly when presented with the same observer later (cache under/behind visual obstructions, recache later in private, etc.).
